Announcements

NWRP is primarily responsible for developing national strategies and procedures for the reconciliation of water availability (and resource quality) and requirements to meet national social and economic development objectives, including strategic requirements, resource quality objectives and international obligations.

The Directorate consists of four Sub-Directorates (North, Central, East and South) which  perform national WR planning functions on a geographical basis, linked to planning regions, including support to Clusters and CMAs.  Key focus areas are:
  • National reconciliation planning and scenario analysis as part of the MWRS, as well as ad hoc requirements to reconcile water requirements and availability.
  • Review of catchment management strategies, particularly in terms of the strategies to reconcile water requirements and availability.
  • Capacity building and assistance to WMA level water resource planning.
