The Directorate Options Analysis is primarily responsible for identifying and evaluating management options/projects to meet future water requirements and for multi-disciplinary project planning to implement these options, including the development of procedures.

The Directorate consists of four Sub-directorates namely, Sub-directorate: D: OA North, D: OA East, D: OA Central and D: OA South. The work of all four sub-directorates is similar but the country is divided into four geographic planning regions. The task of OA is to investigate options to reconcile imbalances in bulk water supply and demand.

Key focus areas are:

  • Analysis of national strategic options to meet future water requirements.
  • Review of CMA structural and non-structural proposals to meet future water requirements.
  • Assistance and capacity building to CMAs in terms of options analysis.
